Septembers Devotion

1 Timothy 4:12-14

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the bodies of elders laid hands on you.”

This scripture has always called out to me. Mainly because I feel that many people, young and old, don’t see the potential within the young. They feel like they don’t have a big enough impact on the world and can’t do much so why bother. It’s just the opposite; we are the next generation of pastors and youth pastors. Younger people can usually bond and influence other people of the same age group more effectively than older people; it just feels more comfortable that way. So why wait until your older to start preaching or showing God’s love when you can do it right now. Use the gifts God gave you to help others and lead them towards Christ. There’s no reason to wait.
